I had a lot of Blue Box, Blue Bow etc growing up so was pleased to find this garage set a few years ago.

Also like my Wardie filling station.

Some very cool service stations toys and models!

This views like an ode to an extinct species. The actual service station is a long gone relic of the past, just like these toy examples. I wonder if anyone under 30 can relate to these.

In the 1960's and early 70's my local Saab dealership was run out of a full service station like many of the shown examples. My towns first VW dealership was a Texaco Service Station. The NSU dealership was in another service station and run by an ex-SS officer that has been de-nazified and settled in my town. He later worked on VWs and eventually opened up a repair garage specializing in Porsche. One of my first jobs was in a Texaco service station doing VW repair.

Rafael Lipkin's company was chosen to do the plastic mouldings for the Matchbox garage.

His logo appears on the box and is a little running clown with the Leon Raphael Lipkin (LRL) initials making up the body and arms etc.

Came across one of my garages today. Is that Lord Snooty making a hasty exit?

Thought it was John Steed waiting for his Bentley.
