The white over purple versions had a production period from 1974 to 1979 and some harder to find versions include the one shown below.

Not only does it have the Copper axles but a very low rear disc (with the model sitting on its wheels it is how low down the disc can be seen) and is tied to the deletion of the plated 'Giftware' models in 1978 when the moulded posts on the base for mounting on ashtrays etc were 'Blanked Off' for no further use.

Just a different supplier of the wire the axles were made from. Nothing special.

It would normally be a supply issue. The finish of the axles was not specified for the production of the Yesteryear models, only the diameter, so if they could not get the silver-grey rods they would have to have an alternative which may not be of the same finish but must be of the same diameter as it was so important to complete a production batch in any given work shift.

sorry if this isn't in the right place but i wondered if anyone could tell me how and what material i could use to replace the plastic window in the box like the one above ??
it would be most appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction
