Crap - you lot were all rich back then. My starting wage as a sparky apprentice was 1 .9.6 a week and I had to give the old lady a quid of that so left with 10 bob but still lived well back then so what happened ! Wages escalated in the 60's but commodities went up even more thats what.

You might be right, I think they also made buckets of steam and tartan paint.
