Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
They go under "early lesney road roller" or " early lesney large scale roller"but are often confused with dinky road rollers which are worth much less, hence the fun in finding themmmi wrote:have a sale or listing example to offer ?

Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
Had that happen a few times now Dave. I bought a lot just for one model but some very nice Regular wheels in the lot I thought I could sell on - when I got the package no expensive Regulars - all were pinched - 2 tone Crest, blue morris etc. Auction house offered me refund of 10 quid or send the lot back but I wanted the prepro YY so just wore it. Happens all to often so where is the security at these places.
If the lots are not online we have no chance here in Oz really as little Matchbox around and early stuff is super rare here.

Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
Since this thread has turned into a ramble about large-scale roller in general, I'll replace the first post with some shots of my flywheeled rollers together and move it to the appropriate area.
Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
Its happened to me loads of times,at one auction house i have complained so many times they think its me or the postman, the auctioneer personally checks my lots before sending and so far its worked,i know its not me and my parcels look unopened so i guess my recent lots didn,t have any good stuff in them lol ,now you have to look and find a gem,win it ,pay for it with postage ,hopes it survives the journey and it hasn,t been nicked in the viewing, when it works out its great ,when it does you get an expensive pile of junkMoyboy wrote:Had that happen a few times now Dave. Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
It is fun hunting them since, without the canopy, there's no maker's name and, to many sellers, they're just another generic 1950s road roller.
Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
very good reason I dont find them advertised !!Idris wrote:It is fun hunting them since, without the canopy, there's no maker's name and, to many sellers, they're just another generic 1950s road roller.
Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
One other point, and that is that I was surprised by the design of the flywheel. Initially I thought it was simply reused to create the wheels for the large-scale cement mixer wheel but, on closer inspection, they are actually a scaled-up version.
Re: Large-Scale Flywheel Roller
They are a similar design, pips etc,but the rims are differentIdris wrote:One other point, and that is that I was surprised by the design of the flywheel.
