Yes, we should do that - perhaps the next one at Cirencester? I was there just after 10 and gone by 11.30. I think I only bought from four sellers - the first stall on the right in the first row, the guy who has lots of Dinky half way down the same row on the left (he's always there in the same place), the jumble sale stall near the coffee shop (mainly train stuff this time, but there's always something interesting), and one in the corner of that second room.

Does the Douglas have a tow guide? The white base without the tow guide would be a great find. The white base models are pretty scarce anyway.

Congratulations on finding the Bedford Lomas Ambulance with the roof cross casting and BPW !- I have never seen one for sale  - I only have the common SPW and GPW versions with the roof cross

Can I ask what version of the thinwall BP tanker you have? i.e. does it have the thin casting line along the internal back wall of the cab which is visible when viewed through the cab windscreen from the front as per the attached photo (this was posted on the forum back in Dec 13).

I have 3 of these thinwall tankers - 2 with the internal casting line and 1 without - not sure if one version is harder to find than the other

The 1 without the internal casting line still has the flat rear cab profile and not the pointed appearance of the common later versions seen when viewed from above the model

Happy collecting :) :)

Thanks! I don't think the others are exactly common - I've got one GPW with doors but without decals and 2 poor SPW, both without doors. My other BPW (without doors) is pure white, while this one is slightly cream. This one was a very lucky find, and a bargain too, as it was priced as though it didn't have the cross casting.

I think it's the same as yours, with the neat casting line separating the thicker upper section from the thin lower section. I don't think I've seen a picture of the other one you describe - do you think it's an intermediate version before the rather clumsy final modification?

Dr. Jeep

Thanks for the comprehensive reply and photo.

To answer your question I think my thinwall without the internal casting line is some sort of intermediate model. When I got it about six months ago as it was my first thinwall I had nothing to compare it with other than the forum posting photo - I did notice the casting difference but was just glad to have it! :D

I did post a photo back in May/June but in case you missed this I have posted it again below.

This doen't show the absence of the internal casting line but gives a good view of the rear of the cab in the open position - you may just be able to make out that the metal is very slightly thicker and the very slight casting fault where the metal is slightly indented at the red mark.

The red mark was on it when I got it and I have just checked my other two thinwalls (each with the casting line) and both have this slight casting fault/indentation in the same position.

With regard to your other BPW Lomas Ambulance can I ask does this have the roof cross or is it just the standard version?

Happy Collecting :) :)

Nice lot - you also have the 42 Studebaker with the body coloured roof panel rather than the normal light blue.

Cheers

Yes, I now have two with black wheels and the roof cross casting. And three others with the roof cross casting. But sadly, I'm still missing the one with the roof decal.

Yes, it's an early one without a tow guide. The sliding roof is actually slightly darker than the body.
