Paint is rough so a repaint is in order. Any tips on what will remove the paint without damaging the plastic

It's been on my watch list for ages and eventually came down to a sensible price
Also shown is the metallic green with the earlier red base

Soak overnight in undiluted "Simple Green" cleaner. It will not harm the plastic.
