this is proving DIFFICULT
keep finding more or those that dont have history ..lost tag along the way
1-1 allchin was not too bad reconfigured into box PC 3 extra to trade
1-2 ford D 2-3 E,-1 F 1,G4 all ok but not close on boxs calipers not precise but definitely 27 28 29 30 MM hole spacing some are extra wide or box too narrow # 1,2,3,4,17... 4 extra
1-3 jag creams and milk white are blended and very close no 50/50 found, much light chasing found #2-3-5 and both HW box
2-1 bus definitely not box PC as found blue lt blue...? (would concede )blue dark blue.... plenty of med blue on hand and the blacks are definite over blue under magnification shows thru
time for other work

I thought it was a lot of work to this point...
keep going backwards
2-1 bus went ok to re alot boxs to correct # ....colors....?
but did some flash photos and then by code default ..blue is dark almost same as the black, then (at least my ) blacks are factory 95% over blue and had to default a hand full to #20 as that was the only other blue choice that would line up
2-2 renault 4 extra to start....(history..?) both D 1 box ,no D 2 in the bunch.....ok not using microscope but read the book
go back and get prior ones ,ALL out again.....2-1 bus (A) thick and thin..add those back to keep box.....1-1 alchin (A)

3 THREE different 1 ones !!!...... in the go box !!! block (small I) thick/thin numeral 1 and a (reverse )print.
as Karl says few mice now in go box to multiply into needed
4 hours later matched all to history ...boxs free for all need D 2 and # 4 car
for the unwritten
#1 easy when in hand
#3 gets an A as it is 3 prong
many # 2 were unplated including wheels...possible this disappears ? ..no because several 60/40 -50/50 or 3/1
what # is a 6 silver ?
only 6 in the go/trade box
sleep in this part of world

As ''mmi'' is experiencing it is quite difficult sorting out 'Yesteryear' boxes. They changed several times during a model's production run with major changes tied to any model re-colour.
The first series of 'Yesteryear' boxes designated as type A, ran from 1956 to 1958 and tend to have minor changes usually brought about by printing errors or shade differences in the colours.
With the introduction of extra models to the range in 1959, the box design changed to become the type B. Once again only minor differences may be found but still different colour shades exist.
1960 and more additional models to the range such as cars saw the start of the range morphing into a series 2 with another new box design, type C and again only minor differences may be found as printing errors are often allowed through to retail outlets. Printing errors will consist of out of register colour layers which on a finished bo artwoek gives the effect of looking at a 3D picture without the special glasses.
1961 and the type D appears and now things get complicated as variations of the 'D' box appear so the 'D' box designation has to be extended to 'D1', 'D2' and 'D3'.
1966 to 1968, the type E box with one extention to 'E1'.
1968 to 1969, the type F Pink and Yellow window box appears.
1969 to 1972, the type G Purple and Yellow window box appears.
1973 to 1979, the type H 'Woodgrain' box appears.
1979 to 1984, the type i 'Straw' box appears.
1984 the type J Maroon box appears.
These are the generally accepted box designations as per the 'White Book' reference material. Type F, G, H, i and J, all have far more variations than shown or listed in the 'White Books' printed so far.
I have a very detailed listing of F, G, H, i and J, box variations for the 'Yesteryear' Rolls-Royce, but this does not mean all recorded variations will apply to the other models in the range.

What I am doing with the collection I am sorting for our friend is to put all of the models out and line up according to casting, then getting out boxes and matching to what is shown in the Yesteryear Book Third Edition.
Here is an example of this weekends line up, actually unpacked by my daughter. She wants to be a mechanical engineer. I think she has the organizational skills.

Pairing models to boxes with what is printed in the 'White Books' can only be approximate, the actual 'In Hand' pairing is much more precise especially with 'H' (Woodgrain), 'i' (Straw) and 'J' (Maroon) boxes.
A Woodgrain box for the Y-1 Jaguar SS100, exists in Two flavours, with and without the JAGUAR text within the rear artwork, the without being the earlier and normally having a model inside with the small front wing lights.
A Straw box for the Y-1 Jaguar SS100, exists in at least Six flavours if the Y-10 Silver Ghost is anything to go by...small then large 'Y' number on the end-flaps, long or short age restriction and guarantee text, shiny or matt inner plynth for the model to rest on!!
That is the sort of information you are not given in the 'White Books'.

this makes for a lot of circling back and impossible paring 4k cars to 3k but instead onwards to 6K
trimming 10% non caliper/microscope doubles
Y-2-2 renault few hiccups no different light mounts or S wheels
Y-3-1 tram lost one some where... but extra A box had many #10 and ones that did not fit.finally found photo that fully filled did not mean difference in 30-60%-100 depth fill but 92-97% in mass hole/area, on just the 1 side(magnified slit) now a pile of #7
see the updating project started on YY s..... no one with enough time and examples (server funds$$)
wish someone had the time/paitence like Charlie with catalog the kings

here now that most have inventory/history tracking reappropriating best examples with best code linked box s
a bit tight on my allotted 2 x 2 clear work desk
Are you code / double culling for the owner or Will that group also be sold off?
Shame for the epay BS 1 win 1 ship gives every offering the base price of $18 +
currently AC can barely give them away and rest of world..$$$ to USA
yet there is interest with decent returns on some
