Christian, you make reference to the horizontal tail gate bar being present on early castings, and I have had a look at the image on your site showing the two models one with and one without the tail gate bar. Now no matter how hard I look I cannot establish where this tailgate bar is Located on the model. Can you clarify what I should be looking for please. No doubt it is something very obvious so apologies in advance mate.

The difference appears to be that with the Citroens the hooks have been cut off whereas the models you've illustrated seem to have interiors from modified moulds.

It is at the top in the centre, immediately under the roof, between the two larger casting parts which hold the tailgate in place.

I suppose it was removed to make it easier for the factory workers to fit the tailgates. That bar is present on the majority of the metallic blue examples, while all yellow and white ones do not have it. A late issue metallic blue model - such as the ones with red interiors - should not have it either.

I admit that this is a good example of a picture where the addition of arrows would be helpful. However, I have never added any arrows to any of my pictures, and if I started doing that now, I fear that I would spend most of my spare time for the rest of my life adding arrows to pictures...

Anyway, it would probably look like this:

I wanted this thread to also show other models that existed with and without towhooks so that we could always refer back to it. When I showed Vectis my Silver Golf with rare blue interior they initially dismissed it as a broken towhook, same as they also initially did with the Citroen, I had to present them with a photo showing that the model exists with and without towhook which they did not know, then they were happy.
