Re: Lee conservancy road
The wall and the sign are from around 1970 when the East Cross Route bridge was built.
They have managed to survive the 22 years since the Lee Conservancy Road factory was demolished.
I took photo's of them a couple of years ago and spoke with Hackney Museum about them.
If anybody is tempted to remove the sign, please stop and think about this:
There is very little left of the Lesney legacy in London anymore, not much to show that Lesney were ever here, let alone what they achieved.
Even Leslie Smiths house has disappeared along with the factories.
So it's a good thing that there's this tiny piece of Lesney left behind which probably goes unnoticed by most passers-by, many of whom will have no idea about the massive factory that once occupied the length of Lee Conservancy Road and the incredible history of Lesney.
So. If you pass the wall and sign, give them a smile, as I do. But that's all.
Thank You

If somebody gets the 24hr deal and can load the info on here I will reimburse them
Re: Lee conservancy road
I think that would constitute either breach of copyright or be in direct breach of the Guardian's T&Cs, and would therefore be both unacceptable and illegal. Therefore, until proven otherwise to my satisfaction, any and all such posts will be deleted.Batterseaboy wrote:If somebody gets the 24hr deal and can load the info on here I will reimburse them
