Are there many examples of SF baseplate colours which cannot be linked to an RW model?
This is a good question and not one that can quickly be answered.

However, an interesting ongoing thread would be to have all SF baseplate colours pictured, in chronological order so we did not miss any, and then get the answer as to whether each one can be matched to a Reg wheel model or not. At the end of the exercise we would have our answers.

Some of the metallic green base colours found on the early SF's ,like the SF#32 Maserati and the #39 Clipper don't to my knowledge have an RW model with similar colours.

Good idea! Could I invite you to start a thread in the SF Chatroom area?

While we are looking at the baseplate colours on the 'Superfast' models, do we know why many of them are not painted at all, just bare metal or in some cases a light Nickel/Alloy mix plating and is there a starting and cut-off point for the range having painted baseplates ?
