Re: 29c Fire Pumper Truck
Your decal-less variation tends to support my belief that the rear vertical side supports happened in the middle of this model's production for a limited time Fixer. Perhaps our Superfast collectors can look for those rear side hose supports also being used later on in that era, indicating either two different dies being used for the plastic hoses for a longer period of time, or perhaps these hoses coming from two different suppliers if they were an outsourced part.
Dan has apparently played with his Fire Trucks a little too much if he has three with broken sirens. LOL
I will have to check my Station Stored models to make sure the men have been more careful with mine.....
I must say Antonin's horn and other casting info is all new to me, and to now find the reason for factory changes made to this model is quite interesting.
Bob and Harold knew a handle from a hinge Hugh, so I have an explanation. Harold Colpitts was actually an active Fireman in Lynn Mass. as his primary job, so probably loved this model and it's variations.
In reading Bob's listings, I think they mean that the raised panel on the door had no handle as opposed to the handles on the earlier recessed doors. His code E is the later raised door panel body with the common later tow slot base, whereas his code F is the same later raised door panel body but with the seldom seen earlier no tow guides base on it. Bob could have added "no door handle, no tow slot" to his code F listing to make those details on it a lot clearer. Bob indicates he did not have that tough code F in his collection at that time, but had verified it's existence. kwakers

We need brutal kids here to help us, seniors, explain some of the casting variationsBrad Pittiful wrote:and i was checking my models...i know why they beefed up the support for the siren...i have four with out the beefing up...and three sirens are broken off...only one still has the siren...i also have a siren broken off with the extra support as you can see the bigger foot print of the casting support

Nice find Dan and in the lower picture of the door, it is evident the top hinge is only just visible and maybe this has led to the tooling being changed to remove the hinge, it clearly becoming worn away through prolonged production.

Re: 29c Fire Pumper Truck
Thanks Fixer! Maybe the outer rear was strengthened later on in this Fire Truck's production to prevent "heat curling" of the rear plastic hoses? I must admit to having now started to check these Trucks carefully at shows for those rear hose side braces and horns which I have not even catalogued yet, so watch the E Bay prices go up on these "common" 29Cs now that this thread has pictured, described and exposed their details and differences......
