Okay, thanks for the answer, Ghosty - although that wasn't the answer I wanted to hear.

The Phantom V James Young is similar to a car used in the 1967 Casino Royale spoof but the film car has single headlights, the Oxford double. Is the Oxford a Phantom VI - although they advertise it as a Phantom V?

As I am the one and only Rolls Royce connoisseur around VBD I can assure you that not a single Phantom VI was bodied by James Young.
When the PVI was launched JY closed shop. PV's come with single and double headlights. Double headlights are not restricted to the PVI.

Well Kevin you learned something about Rolls Royce today, any questions?

By the way the next O.D. Bentley MKVI was also shown at Neurenberg, in line with the similar colored 1/76 model.

I think that twin headlamps on P5 were fitted to suit the SC3 design. At least it curiously happened at SC3 launch.

What is a little pitty is that there is yet plenty offers for the JY PV22 design at 1/43...

But Stéphane a real RR enthusiast cannot get enough of James Young Phantom V models

There is an extensive article in the 2013 Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club Yearbook, celebrating 50 years of quad headlights. I have to read it again to be sure of the details of the inception of this headlight feature.
As you will know there are SC3's with a pair of single headlamps.
Another thing I am not sure of is the 1957 (pre 1959 production) experimental Hooper Phantom V 44EX. Showing single headlamps and a set of double headlamps.
I wonder if the latter were added after 1963, if not then this Hooper PV vehicle may probably the first to have the quad configuration.

The restoration of 44EX included the fitment of Silver Cloud III components, the owner preferring the look of twin headlamps, but for me that has not worked, they do not look particularly comfortable, note also the Shadow/Cloud III turn signal/ side light units on the front wings.

Thanks for the info - I always thought that Phantom V had single and VI double headlights. So, if James Young never made a Phantom VI, is this TrueScale "1970 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI James Young" really a Phantom V and the same subject that Oxford will make?
Oxford and TSM do have a different price point but if it is the same bodywork then Oxford could have at least done the single-headlight version.

TSM also seem to be marketing a 1965 Phantom VI (WRONG!) and a 1966 Phantom VI (WRONG!).

The Phantom V morphed into a Phantom VI during August/September 1968, with the first complete car appearing in October 1968.

Truescale have not done their homework. You can not get a 1970 Phantom VI with James Young coachwork unless it is based on a particular car redesigned by it's owner at enormous cost!

TSM is all wrong all the way.
If anyone would have liked a JY body on a PVI then the one who had to build that car needed to invest an astronomical amount of money for the tooling to make that happen.
The James Young body work on the TSM PV is different from the OD PV so one canot say they are selling identical cars.

By the way I do like the Hooper PV.

For anyone who is interested in post war Phantom cars, buy this huge book, it has all the models chassis numbers, coach builders etc. etc.
It is the very best on this subject.

Depending on that ugly vinyl roofs i woud say `none`!

Vinyl roofs show missing craftmanship, which is displayed in all the cheap US stretch limos. Vinyl and masses of foam hide the cobbled together sheet work.
