Pat - I am (or was) reasonably confident of the authenticity of the model in the NZMVC Gallery - I put the photos there! I believe Alcan used Matchbox models and put their own labels on them so they are Code 3 models...

Thanks all for the feedback !

So looks like a Code 3...Sorry to read about you story Ian. It's really had to know at which point those decals/labels were applied. But they are consistant with other decals seen for Alcan promo. My model does not have the usual yellow or orange decals on the sides.

The fact that both were purchased in Canada might be a good sign that those were indeed promo, but since there is no other artefact such as a special note on the box or any other type of promo documentation, it's still hard to know for sure.
