In Germany Tempo is a synoym to tissue.
So I wonderd what was ment by tempo printing.

I've always know tempo as a way of describing speed, timing or rhythm, from the Latin. I've heard it used a number of times and I wonder if it's use here derives from its similarity to the word tampo but actually relates to the action of the machines? Probably way of the mark

Tempo is an American Ford made in the late eighties and early 1990's. It was bigger than an Escort and Smaller than a Taurus. They were not great cars.

You probably think of the word "tempa" (ending with "a") as used by Charlie Mack and I believe also by Harold Colpitts before him. Where that came from I do not know, as I cannot find any evidence of this word with this meaning actually existing.

(There is a village called Tempa in Estonia, but I do not think this has any connection with pad printing.)

"Tempus" is Latin for "time", and "tempo" is the Italian version of the same word. I doubt that it has any connection with pad printing.

On the first glance it may be similar, but its not! The hot foil uses the pattern of the rim to leave the foil on the outstanding surfaces.

Tampoprinting ist just like stamping, although the stamp does not carry the pattern. The pattern is engraved in a smooth steelplate and the paint is aplied on the steelplate. The surface of the steel plate gets wiped, so that there is only paint in the engraving. The tampo picks up the leftover paint and prints it on the object
