Mick

Marlowe Agencies were distributors and Kevin has listed the company details. From memory they were one of the largest toy distributors in New Zealand at the time dealing everything from Matchbox to kit sets to boxed games, playing cards and god-knows-what-else! I don't recall why or when they went out of business, but believe it was a some years before the company was de-listed by the Companies Office.

Hi Ian,
I don't have anything after 1986. That's only Matchbox wise so they could have still been dealing with "god knows what!"

Tractorboy, when are going to show your R-4 roadway made in New Zealand under licence?

In New Zealand we had toy importing restrictions. I'm sure Ian can tell you more about them. When I was young I didn't know anything of the importing restrictions on toys but do remember the adds that would appear in the news paper announcing the latest arrival of Matchbox Toys. This went right through to about 1977.

I have both the Marlowe Agencies R-1 and R-4 Roadways... but it might take some time to get them photographed

The good old New Zealand Model Vehicle Club Incorporated.... I'm a past President of the Club as well as being the Wellington Branch Delegate and Treasurer. Details on the Club can be found at http://nzmvc.in-nz.com/ - its 47 years old and is one of the world's oldest surviving clubs of its type and certainly the oldest in the Southern Hemisphere.
