a) smooth inner side of the roof
b) croossed lines on the inner side of the roof

There is a variation with/without red trim on the rear lights also.

it seems that the bright red colour variation has a white primary painting

Oh dear! This looks like a major rewtite of the variation table to me.

In Nick's write up on this he says that the earliest red ones were painted over a white base or the original white model

I have the same roof 'Cross Hatching' detail appearing on the #44a Rolls-Royce in late 1961 to early 1962, the Jaguar was deleted from the range in 1962, so those 'Cross Hatch' versions may be quite late productions.

I agree with you, but I think that there are three colours:

bright red - white undercote + red painting
orange-red - red undercote + red painting
dark red - only one red painting

You are right, late variation, probably the last one (untill a new variation will be dig out by Jason :lol: )
