Two things strike me:
- The model is LHD, which means that it must have been made primarily for export since Japan drives on the left.
- It looks like there is a company logo featuring a diamond shape on the right-hand side of the ladder (at the widest point).

I also saw this Diamond logo on the side of the ladder frame and what appear to be the letters..JC. I do not know of a Japanese toy company or distributor with a matching set of initials or name, so for now this model remains anonymous.

Pushing the limits of my photography skills here... I'm using a mobile phone camera and an effect from Photobucket!

I agree, and these are extremely rare but sadly there are not very many charben collectors about.

'JD', An immediate thought is for 'JADALI', but I am not aware of a Fire Escape vehicle in their range, but it makes sense to have one to go with the other Lesney inspired vehicles in the range.

I does not look like the 'AHI' model I know of, so may be a copy of it...!

I also think it is a copy of the AHI - I have a similar one in my collection - comes from a set similar to the AHI sets
