Tim, I'm 100% sure they still did wooden mockups as I have one for the Y10 Maserati which came out around this time

It would be interesting to know how many of these survived as I was told that once that no longer had use for them they were thrown into the Furness to burn ?

Whilst that may have been true in the very early days, latterly, I would have expected the factory to have had gas- or diesel-fired boilers (perhaps with some kind of electrical heating for the melts), therefore making the skip a far more likely destination.
