I like those Dinky hovercraft...they remind me a little of the LCACs (Landing Craft, Air-Cushion) that were used when I deployed. Those had a bow ramp for on and off-loading of vehicles and two giant fans at the stern...and they are
loud! Much to my amazement, they are undergoing a Service Life Extension Program.
Here is
the Wikipedia page on the LCAC, for those interested.

I've seen most hovercraft but hadn't known about the landing craft before now. Thanks for posting that.
Incidentally, there is the Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-Solent that is worth a mooch if in the area but it is only open on Saturday's 10am to 4pm. They recently had a fight on their hands with developers wanting the land for housing and sadly one of the two giant SRN-4's has had to be cut up due to space. Even cutting and shutting it back to its original shorter length wasn't an option within the time.

Anyway, just to keep on the diecast, here is the Corgi 1119 model of the craft that started off the whole idea .... the SR-N1. The model is sans cushion, a modification that was added later to aid stability.

You're welcome. An LCAC in action is a sight to behold. Not only are they loud, they're also surprisingly fast. I hadn't known until a few minutes before this post that
the Royal Navy uses a similar craft. The Hovercraft Museum would be great to visit...sadly, I'm across the pond from Lee-on-Solent.
The Corgi hovercraft is also a neat piece. I imagine, however, that the semi-open cockpit has potential to make for an uncomfortable journey!

Airfix SR-N1 was great fun to build.
