Glad to provide close up pics as follows. In my very humble opinion wheels and axles all look good the same as my other gpw version. The only query I have at this point in time is where did the light colored gold trim come from, factory or elsewhere?. The light I have on the model is making the trim appear silver, it's not until you put it next to a silver trim model you realize the difference. Anyway it will be good to hear what the experts have to say.

My thoughts as well, because the Gold does look rather weak and yes the photography process will have an effect as "Oz" has mentioned, but there are now more models displaying this type of paint trim and is it feasible they intentionally created that mix for the trimming process, as 'Out of the Tin' Gold would be too rich for small models such as these.

The few mixed trim versions I have look like a poor or patchy mix of the two colours and I had thought it may have been caused by someone topping up trim pots with paint, regardless of what colour trim was in the bottom (ie. silver on top of some gold in the pot or vice-versa)

This is correct, being a plastic kit modeller myself, I have had to mix the Two colours and found they do not mix very well, certainly the type of model paints I was using in the 1970's.

As removing the trim pot to clean it prior to a new shade of paint being added would have caused unacceptable delays on the production line it is very likely that the trim pots were topped up with the next available paint be it silver or gold.

There certainly are silver & gold mixed trims on models extant but here isnt such a thing as light gold trim.This "gold" grille specimen clearly shows environmental consequences (rust/tarnish of the metals in the silver paint) and clearly non-factory as the silver remains pronounced thru this haze.Also if one has to dunk this or any old silver trimmed models into strong/semi strong chemicals they would certainly turn "light gold" as seen here.

Hi Numi,
My post on this thread has gone quiet so I thought I'd try and keep it going for a while. I like your post about striving for contentment. Some history on the 20a stake truck gpw, gold trim. I purchased this model in the auction lot shown in the attached picture along with another 9 lots, all of which are genuine and most in excellent or better condition (my opinion only). Somewhere around 70 lesney 1-75's all up including a couple of very hard to find ones to add to my collection. It does seem strange that the previous owner/s decided to pick this one model out and repaint the trim and left all the rest genuine. From the posts I've read so far I'm currently sticking with "genuine" not to say that I won't change my mind if convinced.
