You're right Reg, it is a nice model but they come up fairly frequently. The water gun remark is apparently quoted from Dana Johnson, version 1. Has anyone got a copy because it might have examples of "with and without" water guns?

It beats me why these go for three figures anyway as they are plentiful, but then again it's only what people are willing to pay
So right Reg, my latest #29 Fire Pumper cost me £40!!!! It is mint in a near mint Type G box :D

JB i would be interested to see exactly what these examples show!! I suspect nothing as surely Nick and Mick would have made reference to such a significant casting difference on Nicks site. Christians site also has no specific examples of this "no cannon cast" variation.

Sounds like a load of Baloney if you ask me!!!

That's what I was thinking mm. Perhaps it's a marketing ploy. Next time I list a Bedford Tipper maybe I'll include "WITH SWIVELLING TAILGATE!" in the description, it might add a nought to the final price.

When this casting was revived in the early 1980's for the Code Red issue, it was produced with a plastic water gun.

...which is this one, but surely he realizes this is a different model and only the main body casting with tooling changes was used for the 'Code Red' issue with completely different plastic mouldings...

...has he genuinely made a mistake in thinking all the models are fitted with the 'Water Cannon'.

Maybe Dana Johnson may help, unless the seller has misread the information in the book.

I am currently watching a second ebay listing from a different seller? who has listed their #29 pumper with the comment " Matchbox 29D: Fire Pumper, Superfast, No Water Gun Cast, Near Mint Model.

It would appear this may be a ploy by savvy sellers to lure unwary buyers IMHO!!
