Mike, like I said, does not matter if the base is tight or loose (that means nothing with a spread rivet). People have been faking the black poles for decades, some dust means nothing either.

The black poles look like they were always black but I find the first place for the paint wear on the trolleybus is the poles themselves, Taking the paint wear of the rest of the bus into consideration I think the poles have most likely been swapped from another model. Also for the reason that the black poled trolleybus has not been recorded with rounded axle ends.

I think this model is more likely a base swap - the base is the most worn part of the model. I agree with your observation Nick that the black poles tend to chip/wear faster than the rest of the model.

To clarify, I see nothing wrong with the poles on this model. My concern is that it is a genuine black pole body which has been married with a later base...

Probably detailed by a model railroader. Someone attempting to make a fake would paint the poles correctly.
