Re: damn & blast
Can someone please explain what is going on? is the model rare, or is it the wheels, or is it the colour, or maybe even a combination thereof?
Re: damn & blast
It is the rarest casting of the flyers range much more than the lovely firenza, they are available in the later plastic based super gt style models.
This is the first I have seen for sale and are that scarce I was not aware of them as flyers until Graham told me about them last year

Re: damn & blast
sadly not Numi it is of the later type of Lone Star issues which remind me of the SF GT series with basic castings and blacked out windows
confusingly this is called a GT although it is obviously a corvette (licensing issue ??) Ghosty will know I'm sure
the one I'm after is the yellow corvette stingray in the second of my links and as shown in Ghosty's pictures which is more like a narrow wheeled SF with opening features doors, bonnet, and boot
both of these are available in either style of finish but the stingray is vhtf in its earlier flyers guise
maybe we need an article on the history of Lone Star hint hint to a certain member

Re: damn & blast
The example shown by "Numi" is part of a 12-car 'Super Models' range from 1979, they were basic models compaired to the earlier versions, with no opening parts.
The previous model number 11, Gran Tourismo (we know it is really a Corvette), was renumbered as 76 for the 'Super Models' range and called a 'GT Rally'.
The nice rare Yellow Corvette Stingray "Reg" is chasing, was introduced into the 'Flyers' range during 1970 and shown in the 1971 catalogue in a Brownish-Red colour and actually called a Chevrolet Corvette, so any lisencing issues must have been resolved. The earlier model, #11, could not be re-named as a Corvette because it was known as Gran Tourismo on all the drawings, tooling and in the inventory for the range. If "Reg" was chasing an example of this model, I am sure it would be this one shown below...
This is a 'Plated' version, similar to the 'Plated' 'Yesteryear' models, very nice!

Good catch Reg, yes, it's seen better Days but at least you won't be afraid to handle it and let other collectors play with it...!
