Nice addition Al
I would think that it's a second issue following the RW stle cab with the tab , assuming the cab modification was in production before the base, vhtf well done lad

Nick Mentions: Initially the yellow cab unit was unchanged, however with the baseplate now being rivited in more places the assembley for the bulk of all SF21d made was simplified by removing the tongue from the cab where it had slotted into the front numberplate holder.
On the baseplate, this slot in the front numberplate was removed. Crossover issues exist without the tongue on the cab but with the slot in the front numberplate but these are scarce.

Hi MM,could yours be the Crossover/Initial production short-run after a few Color-Trials when the tongue had to to be removed for much easier assembly using the earlier base but sooner found it a bit bare/odd and so had it filled in to form the full numberplate together with the other casting changes.Hope im on the right lines here and this helps ;)

Thanks Numi. This explanation you provide seems logical. My thinking was that the removal of the tongue was to allow for the solid bumper to be applied and rather than bin the remaining bumpers with slots they used any remaining stock. If thats the case then these were probably leaving the factory at the same time as the solid bumper variation albeit in smaller number.......just a thought. :D

THX MM, this doesn´t help identifying a treasure in a beater box, as the one without frontbase looks the same upsidedown
