We better give collectors a few days to check these Idris, they get to your eyes very quickly. I like counting just the bottom 'pips' over all of them (as in Stannard's Guide), but those are still very tiny pips and hard to see for we 'old folks' LOL

Hugh, I've checked mine, and don't think I have the variation you're after.
Cheers,
Gavin

One thing I missed out earlier and that is that the red version was shown on Lefora in a blister pack with box. This means that it was made available for purchase outside the G4 "Race 'n' Rally" gift set.

Thank you, Mike. That looks like another exhaust brackets/4 pips/large text example.

On the basis of the feedback received, I now believe that the opening post in this topic should have read as follows:
"The NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition) does not have any variations not already listed by Nick and neither does the AIM “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983). Both catalogues note the existence of two different positions of the base text, but explain these away as paired moulds in use during the whole of the model's lifetime.
Nick's listing contains two mistakes. The first is a transcription error from Stannard - the with and without decal guide body variations are reversed, so apparently the majority of models carrying decals did not have guides, whilst those bearing labels did! In addition, Nick's listings repeat an error made by Stannard, namely that the base listed as exhaust brackets/4 pips/large text should instead read exhaust brackets/3 pips/large text. Taking all that into account, Stannard lists a variation at 52(B) 2-12 not in Nick's list: red/5 label/exhaust brackets/4 pips/small text/with guides. This would slot in as code 18.
Houghton has only a single variation not covered by Nick: 52b-12 is red/5 label/exhaust brackets/4 pips/small text/with guides. This matches the missing Stannard code. (Unsurprising since Houghton's listings are, for the most part, based on Stannard although, in this particular case, he has identified and corrected both errors.)
U.K. Matchbox did not cover the model in any depth, although a pre-production example with a plain base is pictured and examined in Vol 2, no. 2 (Apr. '78) p34."

I hope, this is the right place to ask for it!
I have a 52b BRM Racing Car, which would make a code 1
code 1 blue body, silver base, 12.5 x 72 and 14 x 72 tyres 5 decal no exhaust brackets, 4 ribs, small text no guides
but it has guides!
What is it?

If Roland's BRM is correct for a 'Code 1' then this is a good example of a 'Code 1a' having to be accepted.

Hi,
today I bought this model with:
blue Body / 5 decal / no exhaust brackets / 3 ribs / small text / with guides.
This variation is not listed in Nicks list too.
