The one that springs to my mind looks like your avatar JB - the pale green metallic replaced by the metallic red (which wasn't much better) 53a.

Cheers,
Gavin

Jack Odell reportedly changed the colour on his 1:1 Aston so no surprise this insipid metallic green was dropped for the bold metallic red which as we know from Fred Bronner´s catalog , was as close as possible to the red enamel choice of the original sales samples which implies some strong division of opinions within the colour committee which were revised following relatively slow sales of the metallic green 53a!

Not forgetting this one was originally silver, not many were produced and I don't know why the metallic green was then chosen.

Thinking about it, another obvious one for these defects is the metallic 22b's.

The ´´silver´´ one shown in Nick´s listing looks like a sunfaded or chemically bleached metallic green example rather than sharing the grain of the 30b which was the 1st true silver Lesney afaik - no proof to show its earlier than Bronner´s red enamel ones rather than as is most likely, made the same time as the metallic green examples with the same silver trim

However, Nick assures us that genuine silver examples do not have silver trim.

But the silver example photographed in his guide looks like it has silver trim and that contrast proves its just a faded metallic green example!

For a few weeks I had custody of the silver 53a that was part of the Thomas collection, It was silver without any trace of green including the inside of the body under the boot lid and under the sills. I have no doubt that it was 100% original. I have found other severely sunfaded Astons and they have all kept a trace of green on the outer body but when you look through the windscreen to the inside of the boot you can easily see that it was a green model.
I believe the silver version was more than likely a colour trial hence its extreme scarcity.
As a matter of interest, The person that I sold the silver Aston for told me how he came by it. He had bought it on ebay because he needed a box for a red Aston and this one seemed cheap possibly because the other bidders thought it was a sunfade, It was only when he took delivery and opened the package that he realised it was actually something very special.
It was bought by the nephew of Jack Maggion from New Jersey, a name you may remember from the mcch from years back, Jack has been a friend of mine for 15+ years and he and his charming wife Stephanie have visited me twice at my place in London and I have visited him at his home in New Jersey, If there were any doubts about the originality of the silver Aston the buyer could have contacted me at any time.

Mick.
If you look at the silver aston on my site it is a side view photo which does not show the front of the car, The other silver one is a sunfaded green and says so in the text.
