Thanks Mick. All your points are correct. The 'Grey Ribbed' roof without the 'PIPS' is not as expensive to buy these Days as it was back then and it seems most established collectors have got one.

It is because of the roof-swap trick from a plated model to a normal painted model that has rendered the 'plated' version just as hard to find these Days, as the original model mentioned above used to be!!

Far too many 'Plated' models have had their 'Grey-Ribbed' roofs removed and yes, I have 'Plated' versions with and without the inner roof 'PIPS', and I treat them like they are the Crown Jewels...!!

Thank you Mathias for your pictures. The lower Two models are very nice examples of 'Transition' models from 1973 and while most collectors regard these as 'Negative' variations, they are always wanted in collections, thanks for showing them here.

An example with a much lighter baseplate component. Christian Falkensteiner also has one like this.

Hello Mathias, thanks for showing your 'Grey-Ribbed' roof Rollers (try saying that after a few Beers...!), and it is interesting you point out the Two shades of Grey on the roof. If both models are genuine, that is good, because the shade difference was one way to tell a faked model from an original model, meaning the roof has been taken from a 'Giftware' plated model as the roofs on plated models were/are a different shade to the normal painted model.

I am not saying one of your models is a fake, just pointing out the facts so you know and I am quite happy to except both of your models as genuine.

Also, thanks for mentioning the fact that both do NOT have the little 'Pips' inside the roof, this is important to know.

One I would like to find is the gold body version with silver bonnet component. I think I have only ever seen a couple on sale in the past, oh and the rare yellow seat version as well.

Looks pretty minty to me. The bonus is the nice sharp box. This model suffers more than most from damaged boxes for some reason. Maybe due to being slightly heavier than most of the others in the second/third series. It is the first issue of this model. Pretty common, but a good catch at that price. Well done.

Hello Fox, that is a nice example of the early version and yes that box is a stunner. Can I ask you to show the front section of the baseplate, in particular the sump and front axle, as shown in my picture below, many thanks.
