Real vehicles were predominately Yellow or light Orange, so not sure what Lesney were doing with the model's colour.

Red on a Ferarri is the national racing colour for Italy as Green on a Lotus, Jaguar and Bentley is the national racing colour for Britain and Silver on Audi, Mersedes-Benz and Porsche for Germany.

Non racing colours were always available on Ferarri, Jaguar and Bentley cars, but through these teams racing success, the general public want their cars in the racing colours, so more of those were chosen when new and used on public roads.
