I agree with Ghosty as they are in equal numbers and easily detected if the sellers lighting is good.

In many publications it is stated that the silver greay color is a later color then the mauve color.
However almost all silver greay models I saw came in the early D box.
Also the modelcolor on this box looks more to a silver grey then to mauve.

I am looking forward to your opinions re when the silver greay color was issued?

Hello Marcel.

I have always had the Silver-Grey version as the earlier issues and this can be confirmed through the use of ivory seats on these models then changing to cream seats on the Lilac-Mauve models and the body casting details.

I have recorded Three models finished in Silver-Grey, then Lilac-Mauve, so for my own listing I have them in the order below...

Version 1, Satin Silver-Grey body, Ivory seats, flat front bumper, Black plastic wheels.
Version 1A, Gloss Silver-Grey body, Ivory seats, Flat front bumper, Black plastic wheels.
Version 1B, Gloss Silver-Grey body, Ivory seats, Flat front bumper, Silver-Grey plastic wheels.
Version 2, Gloss Lilac-Mauve body, Cream seats, Flat front bumper, Silver-Grey plastic wheels.
Version 2A, Gloss Lilac-Mauve body, Cream seats, Flat front bumper, Black plastic wheels.
...and so and so on to 12 Versions in total.

The Silver-Grey models can only be early issues because of the flat front bumper and if they were later issues as shown on Nick's 'Code Listing', they would have the sloping front bumper, so the actual body casting dictates their position as the first, or at least the earliest issues.

The term 'Flat Front Bumper' means the rear edge of the top surface of the bumper does not touch the 'Air-Vents' under the headlamps. From my Version 2E onwards, finished in Satin Lilac-Mauve, this rear edge does touch the 'Air-Vents' and actually encroaches into the driver's side Vent more than the other side and what has happened to the bumper is that the top surface slopes upwards from it's leading edge and finishes onto these 'Air-Vents'.

I thought I had better add my little drawing for the term 'Flat front bumper' in case it was not clear what I was rambling-on about, it is an old drawing and my terminology of 'Low' bumper is the same as 'Flat' bumper.
