I was following this auction and finally asked the seller if any of the vehicles were repaints. He did not respond, tho I asked 2 days prior to auction end. I still bid but the alarm bells were ringing. Did not win, a good thing I hope.

The color looks totally wrong to me also, so I would not worry too much about this one being real. That is only my opinion, but all your above reasons and statements of facts seem to indicate a sharp Lesney educated Seller. You do not bury a Holy Grail when you see it top $200 at auction, you stop that auction to properly research and describe the rare piece to enhance your return IF it is original. kwakers

I don't know, but I do recall that that seller also had a 30b which was too light a shade of tan to be genuine.

The colour shade is too light, its cream not tan - colour balance in photo looks good so I am 95% confident that this is a very old brush repaint.
Selling them as scrap in the full knowledge that some fools will think it is genuine and bid without asking any questions isnt a crime when the seller himself regards and has declared these toys as scrap. He has no obligation to declare a repaint unless he replies to that question asked by a potential bidder. This auction is a lesson for the bidders to learn!

Seller knows very well that this Magirus is a Pinkish-Cream repaint and not the original Tan.Sad to believe that buyers could have been so blinded even in daylight!
