Believe me guys i have learned my lesson with these Bank transfers, never again.

Mick, Viewfield I was unaware that you guys were able to do these transfers on the cheap being in the EuroZone. I am not sure if that is enough of a sweetener to pursuade me to ditch the pound just yet!! ;)

Next time you want something from Germany, let me know. I'll pay by bank transfer and you can reimburse by PayPal :D

This is good news Guys, is this my forum 'Pen-Friend' idea starting to take-off, hope so, because it can only bring some benefit to various forum members chasing models in foreign parts but hindered by currency conversion costs and I suppose EBay wrangles.

Ghosty.

Good advice there about not doing it for relativley small amounts.......They can cost more to change monies like you say....I just had a buyer of Matchbox stuff a few weeks ago[was one of my last buyers aswell ]who was in Germany and would only send me a cheque from his bank....My bank the Halifax have stopped doing free exchanges now and where charging me 10% or 15%...Then his cheque got rejected as he had changed the date and not signed it....To save time as he was not checking his messages on Ebay I sent his cheque back with a covering letter and requested cash if that was OK with him..Guess what?.....No reply...So if by chance you are on here mister ..Wheres me cash?

I am not in the euro zone - I use both Danish and Swedish kronor living both sides of the border ! British banks tend to be greedy offering very high charges and take a greater bite on exchange rates compared to our banks here - when I took my funds out of the UK cash was the cheapest way to get the most kronor here.........

It's simple for me. I do not accept checks from outside the USA, I do not accept any form of electronic payment other than paypal from outside the USA. The reason: fees are excessive for bank transfers (even within the USA) and checks are even more expensive. I do plenty of business in Germany and all my German customers use paypal. If german collectors are serious about wanting to buy outside the euro zone, they should establish a paypal account.

It's not the buyer's that's the problem, it's the sellers! Some just think the world ends at the German border. (Just like many in the USA) :D

I have a friend who repeatedly buys stamps from everywhere in the world and he has no Paypal account, mainly because he is not a computer Freak and does not understand the ins and outs of intermet banking and the like. I make his PayPal payments for him and he gives me the money, simple.
