The fact that the 6A in that early 1958 display had been replaced with the 'New' 1959 released 6B with no decals proves to us (or at least to me..LOL) that these Dumps without decals were an early first batch delivery to the U.S. warehouse of Fred Bronner. Mike Stannard again failed to use Bob Brennen's Guide of known Lesney variations from 1973 when investigating for his, and consequently failed to even list the 6B without decals as a well known U.S. variation in his very comprehensive 1985 U.K. Matchbox Guide.
It's a shame I didn't think to check for your silver grill on that 6B in the display George, that would have been proof of timeline on the silver trimmed radiator variation also..........kwakers
I am firmly convinced that the 6b without decals is a valid factory-issued variation rather than an error piece. (I recall that, in the early 1980s, there was a story going round the London-area collectors' circuit that the model was released before the first batch of decals were ready.) However, it should be noted that, to the best of my knowledge, the silver-trimmed models always have the door decals (which is odd since it represents double costs).

Thanks for the link to the silver trimmed radiator being only found on the door decal versions Hugh, I wasn't aware of that. I must admit I have never checked for the painted grill on any of our models either, so I better get busy on that.
We do have a silver trimmed 6A Quarry Truck with Flat crimped axles, Early body, and also the early tipper that has not ever been recorded anywhere to the best of my knowledge. Ours is out of an old N.Y. area collection, and at least 2 others were known to have changed hands over the years from that area also. Is that a variation anyone else has ever heard discussed in the past? I have never mentioned or shown it anywhere before now, knowing only a very limited number of these 6As may have been done with silver trim out of the factory (possibly as pre-productions or a first delivery?) kwakers

The silver trimmed radiator has never been recorded, the tipper body is simply the first style, not the second casting of it. I could have worded that a bit different, but I was just giving which casting was involved on both the cab and the tipper body of our 6A with silver trim, not talking a new casting of either cab or tipper dump body.........Sorry kwakers
