I know a lot of German sellers have problems with communication in English, and they don't like to send their items to locations outside of Germany.
Additional to that, they don't use PayPal very much - so a lot of restrictions come together!

I'm always ready to lend other collectors a hand.......

Alex where you looking on the German eBay site?
If not, then the seller must have ticked the box to allow international exposure. Therefore they are obliged to ship items abroad.
I've complained to eBay in the past for something similar with a foreign seller.

It was German e bay that i was on and saw a listing just about to end and i placed a bid without reading the listing in full. I got the winning bid then realised that the seller did not quote for posting outwith Germany. Fortunately i have received a message from the seller who is happy to complete the sale. I just need to be a bit more careful with ebay Germany and read listings in full. I like the German site as i have seen a few gems of late appearing.

Thanks for the praise!
I have made a lot of international friendships by helping out other members.
I enjoy it, and I don't want to stop - so count me in for the pen friend base!

Thanks Guys for your interest in the 'Pen-Friend' idea, I would like Nick to come forward and give his views on this and decide weather it would work and is right for the forum. I don't personally do any EBaying so I do not know the ins and outs of how you bid, or buy items from it, it just seemed to be an idea that may help out members if they could have friends in the country the item is being offered.

If a few regular EBaying forum members could lay down a few ground rules and ideas as to what would be required to operate the 'Pen-Friend' system, it would be very helpful, if it proves to be too fussy or complicated to sort out, then just forget it and carry on as you do, but it looks like if organised properly, it would help in the situations similar to that brought forward by "Motorman" and "RacingFreak".

Regards,

Ghosty.

I would love to see this idea getting to work. For example, I've been quite frustrated few times in the past when some UK sellers refuse to post to Bulgaria for no actual reason, they just don't bother to ship overseas... :)

I think it is a very good idea but I would prefer to keep our arrangements by pm or we could find ourselves inundated with post to be forwarded to people we don't know who have only joined the forum to take advantage of our good natured members. Alex, I know Kay personally having met him on several vectis sales / toyfairs including the Albuquerque gathering 2004 and by email/forum since 2000 at least, Your goods will be in safe hands, 100% guaranteed.
