Perhaps we could adopt a style from the Ministry of Silly Walks, we'd be instantly recognizable. It wouldn't involve extra expense either. Just have to watch out that we don't get ejected

Although I am not sure if we have enough space at swapmeets to practice the silly walks.

The Slough, (Winsdor) toy fair, was its' usual busy but not packed with visitors affair, not like the old days, when I would get there really early and try and get round all stalls as quickly as I could, these days I can just go around in a more casual pace.

This event was a little special, knowing that members of the forum would also be in attendance, so I had to be on my best behaviour and wear some respectable clothes, no short skirt and stockings today I thought, but I did wear a little sticky label with Vintage British Diecast on it and it worked, because this really handsome chap came over and started chatting me up...!
The only problem, he kept calling me Jason and I thought I better go along with this in case he owed Jason a lot of money, then at least I could take the money and pass it on to Jason later...!!!

It turned out to be Nick, the main man, and so we went round the toy fair together and every time he took out his wallet, I thought, how much of that is coming my way and then we met the real Jason, (nearlymint) and that buggered it all up for me...!!!

Hi Jason, it was nice to meet you and little oliver, hope you enjoyed your visit to Slough, the home of "The Office", Europes first industrial estate and the production of Gerry Anderson's "Thunderbirds".

Sorry to have missed johnboy and any other members on the day, next time, we should agree to meet at the event organiser's table within a given time slot and yes, a little I.D. badge similar to the one I was wearing would be helpful.

The attached pictures show some Ghosts that I found, one in particular was the 'MOY' Y-10, in green and brown as it is the second from last casting in 1972 and fills a gap in my collection, I am pretty confident I now have all versions of this model. It has the wide brake-lever mounting point instead of the narrow one of earlier versions.

The big gift set consists of four plastic copies of 'Yesteryears', marketed by 'CRAGSTAN' in the U.S. during the mid to late 70's and the Silver Ghost in this set is the very unusual silver-grey version instead of the normal yellow version.

The smaller gift set was a free gift from one of the stall holders, it includes a Silver Ghost and the Y-7, missing it's rear seat, was only a pound, came in a good pink and yellow window box.

It was great seeing Nick, so here's to the next one, maybe I can get to a toy fair in the Essex area one day.

I was there from 0830 'til about mid day. A friend and fellow YY collector from Germany was with me, Sorry I missed you Nick. John found me and introduced himself. Good to meet you John. Jason, you kept that black wheeled Sentinel hidden in the bag when we were chatting.

The Cragstan pieces were nice, and there are more of them to find.

This is one of those prepared for a Transpalite embedment but never used. Tyres are rubber replacements, as the original plastic ones were affected by the embedment process.

Thats a superb model Bob, would like to have seen that one. Was not to sure about the bpw sentinel as the light in there is rubbish,axles checked out ok when I got it home. J

I so much wanted to meet you YYS4BOB, so much to talk about, we should seriously consider wearing I.D. badges when visiting events such as this and as I mentioned earlier, we agree to meet at the event organiser's table within a time period.

There is a disadvantage of a couple of members sticking together at a toy fair...fights will breakout over who is going to buy certain items like the 'Chrome' Bugatti. I am not a general 'Yesteryear' collector, but I may well have brought that one, because of it's intended use and it would sit well next to my Y-15, Silver Ghost 'Transpalite' example.

So, for future reference, I am six foot tall, 10 dan level in Karate, an ex-coal miner and was once part of the team who train the S.A.S., just so you know...!!!
