Hi mm, it seems to be only the first few posts, after that they go straight through.

Hi Alex.
I will try and increase the avatar size but I am having problems logging in as the administrator, I am logged in as a mod, it was working fine yesterday, grrr.
You should be able to post without your posts needing to be approved now, just the first two or three messages need approving to keep the spammers out.

I must be a right Fat Bastard because despite me reducing the size of my avatar to 12.5% on PAINT it is still too big :( So unless Nick can increase the size of the avatar i will remain the invisible man!!

My avatar is 5.9 kb but it is very blurry where I had to save it at such a low quality, I will increase the size once I can get back in as administrator.

Before I put my photos in Photobucket, I use A card reader and put them in to a Picassa programme, once in there you can edit them to any size you like.

With out changing any of the deffernition of the photo and it changes them all to jpeg format.

QUICKLY RE-SIZE PICTURES.

This picture has a physical size of 904 x 682 but a file size of 48.9 KiloBytes. It is a 'Screen Grab' of the original picture, opened from a pictures folder, with 'Preview'.

The original picture has a physical size of 2816 x 2112 but a file size of 2.12 MegaBytes, when this was opened from right clicking and scrolling down to 'Open' or 'Preview', it will be displayed to a size limited by the physical size of your screen, and because the file size is large, it allows you to enlarge a section by zooming in, a very small file size still allows this but the picture breaks up sooner and starts to show the individual pixels.

If you now press the 'Prt Sc' key, usually along the top row of keys towards the right, you make a new version of the picture, but with a smaller file size, so your biggest pictures, (those taken with digital cameras or smart phones) loaded directly into your computer, will be of a more managible size.

Depending on how your own computer is set up to save images from connected equipment, this new smaller picture should be sitting in your 'Pictures' folder. All you need to do now, is right click, scroll down to 'Open With' and move onto 'Paint' and left click.

Once it is in Paint, you can do all sorts of wonderful things with your picture, but all you want to do for now is slightly crop it, so click on the Magnifying Glass, move onto the picture and right click, now move onto the 'Select' square, (just under the 'Edit' word next to 'File') and left click, now move back on to the picture towards the top left of the edge of the picture, left click but hold the key down and drag your finger across the touch pad and you will see the 'Select' function drawing a line over the picture, take it down to the bottom right edge and let go of the left click key, the dotted line will stay around the picture.

Move into the centre of the image and left click, keep it pressed and with a finger on the touch pad, move the image to the top left of the canvas area and line it up straight, let go of the key, move the cursor off the image and left click, this will secure the image in it's new position, now move down to the bottom right corner of the grey area and jiggle the cursor until it becomes a double arrow, hold down the left click button and move it upto the corner of your picture.

Go to 'File' and click, scroll down to 'Save As...' and give the picture a decent name, you've finished.

Now when you want to upload a picture directly from your computer, you use the new version.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will see that the example above has been cropped by the 'phpBB' platform software, just left click on it and it will display it in full.

The next version of the same picture has been cropped, this can be done while it is in 'Preview' or when it is in 'Paint'. The preview way is quicker. This is a 'Default cropped' version and is the result of just a couple of clicks. First the picture is opened in 'Preview' then click on 'Fix', move across and click on 'Crop photo' and your picture will have a central area in it's normal brightness, don't touch this, just move across to 'Apply' and left click, a new cropped version of your picture is now displayed, this is exactly how the above picture was created and fine for most posts on the forum.

Again, if you now left click on the image above it will display all of it.

This is a third version of the same picture, it has been tightly cropped while in 'Preview' and with some extra downloaded 'Microsoft' software, the contrast, exsposure and shadow properties have been enhanced.

You will now notice the picture is displayed fully, a result of the 'cropping', it now has a physical size of 382 x 321 and a file size of 39.7 KB. This is a good size for posting on the forum.
