Do you mean password-protected pages or access via a white list?

I support the idea of a private area where trusted people can discuss scams and scammers. However I am very much against it becoming the repository for the 'best' information to be accessed only by a chosen elite. If Nigel Cooper is in a position (and minded) to allow reprints of his valuable articles to be posted, putting it behind closed doors would be a disservice to the hobby IMHO.

Wow! It sounds as if there are a whole host of resources out there that have looked at the time line of Lesney.
I will have to keep my eyes peeled for the 40 year book and these collector magazines.
It would be great if any of these resources were available on line.
Thank you Tim, Steve and Dave for your insights.
As always, VBD is host to a wealth of knowledge.
Thank you
Kurt

Hi guys,
I have a copy of both the 'White' book and '40 Years' book, (among others), so if any member wants me to check something from those two books, I can.
Regards,
GHOSTHUNTER.

I have a spare copy of the 40 years book (corners bumped if I recall correctly). If anyone's interested, please PM me.

I would relish an opportunity to read these articles of Nigel's from the collector magazine referenced earlier. What a treasure and a resource those would be!

Thanks for the comments. The editor of the magazine changed and it was decided that there was not enough interest for the theme to continue. I think I had written the 1970 article.
Although I still have connections with the magazine (as their Matchbox expert !!! and price guide coordinator) I have not written an article for a while. I have submitted a few but they have not met the requirements. I still write articles for the MICA magazine and annual and there will be a piece in the forthcoming Best of British magazine.
Incidentally, there were plans for a book on the first 60 years of Matchbox but Mattel decided against it!!

Hi Martin
I would be very happy for the articles or the chapters I wrote from the 40 years book to be reproduced. I think Marcel has all of the articles to hand. A photographer and the magazine editor used to come to my house for a day for each article so I don't have copies of the photos - though I have some negatives. The articles should be in the public domain.
However, if there was a "private area" I would be far more willing to share models and displays that I have. Indeed, I would be happy to invite the members of the private area to visit the museum. This is nothing to do with a chosen elite, merely my concern that may border on paranoia!!
