Re: 30 Magirus Crane truck
Warm congrats Mr Ginsburg, well done and i feel your excitement
These Tan Magirus Crane trucks are on par the rarest of the 1:75 Series with the Turquoise Diplomat.Much rarer than the Red Vauxhall,Dodge Reverse Wrecker & Cream Cougar in my opinion.
Enjoy,
numi

Re: 30 Magirus Crane truck
Sorry to hi-jack this thread but could someone tell me which is/seems actually scarcer between the Red & Orange booms on these Tan Magirus trucks.
RED JIB- I had seen or know of one in Matxhbox Grizzly collection (shown on Nicks site),one from Hardy with broken hook(now sold),seen 3 x other specimens sell on Ebay (incl Mr Ginsburgs' ,so all 4x in playworn condition with broken hooks) TOTAL thus far =5.
ORANGE JIB - I had seen or know of one in Matchbox Grizzly collection, one specimen on Toymart site,my specimen and thats it since the past 3yrs.TOTAL thus far =3.
Please contribute so we can ascertain if other specimens exist in other collections and to determine which jib colors are scarcer.
Idris,Jason,Schenk,others ??
Thanks,
numi

I would expect the orange jib version to be scarcer since it represents a crossover between the (presumably) pre-production colour combination of tan and red (clearly based on 13a/b) and the production colours of silver and orange, the implication being that Lesney produced more tan bodies than red jibs.
Re: 30 Magirus Crane truck
I agree with both Numi's rarity statement, and also Idris' logical statement on comparative rarity between the two. I have neither rare version of this Crane, and I have only seen Hardy's now sold model in person. Alan Toyboy 4 years ago had both versions for sale that were used out of a collection, but I would guess these are both now appearing in your above count Numi. These type rarities remain in older collections. We may only get a rough survival number of those that have changed hands within the Forum's public eyesight, obviously not secretively as Charlie Mack's version a few years ago. kwakers

I hadnt known about Alan Toyboys specimens but incl Charlie Macks $10/10gbp specimen in the count as it now belongs to MB Grizzly.kwakers wrote:I agree with both Numi's rarity statement, and also Idris' logical statement on comparative rarity between the two. Now that Idris owns both types (congrats) coupled with Toyboys then that pushes the count much further.
RED JIB: Initial count 5 + Toyboy + Idris =7.
ORANGE JIB: Initial count 3 + Toyboy + Idris =5.
Other members...Schenk??

Congrats Wolfie. Any level of condition on this model are rare. I have seen a very few of both here in the US but only own the orange jib model.

Re: 30 Magirus Crane truck
Careful on the count Numi, we can't count those two twice. As I said in my above Post, I believe both of Alan's may already be on our list because they were sold 4+ years ago. I suspect the used one Hardy sold is one of Alan's, but I can't tell or say that for sure. Alan's prices were very fair on both rare seldom seen variations. It is a very small collecting community we have here, so I have always felt very few of these early color Cranes were produced. Fred Bronner pictured one of these odd colors in a cardboard display if I remember correctly for his 1961 Dealer or pocket catalog?, so perhaps that one also survives over here. kwakers
Re: 30 Magirus Crane truck
I know of one of these in a collection in NZ - can't remember the jib colour, but think it is red...
