Our family has used wood shelves painted white (to accent the models) for our displays. The original smaller racks are now approaching their 50th year of harmless display, so I am horrified at Tinman's crumbled interior. I would have to say that an 'environmental issue' had to cause such a severe breakdown of the plastic Lesney used on these. If the paint on the model is still Mint, before reading this I would have assumed Joe now has an 'error' without interior from the factory. What a sad picture that pile of plastic now leaves me with this morning. This kind of deterioration is something I have never seen, so maybe our cooler climate is better suited for preservation of our toys up here in N.Y. kwakers

Would plumbers ptf tape be any good. No glue and sticks to itself enough to get the tyre on before it unwraps.

If it stays on the hub when you push on the tire, I would say go for it.
