Mick, Johnboy and Nick, you guys know way more than i do about RW's which i still consider a total mine field, and you are very probably correct about this Mustang not being what it seems.
I think JB's extra work in checking this guys feedback in more detail kind of confirmed it.
This seller has according to JB sold many other collectable models on their own for reasonable sums of money which would tend to suggest the seller has some knowledge about what he is selling. That being the case why would he not be selling the Mustang on its own if it were the genuine article and waiting for the several Hundreds of pounds to come thundering into his PayPal account?.
I also appreciate Nick and Micks comments about the paintwork. In Micks case i have to agree that the paintwork does look very thick in places and Nicks suggestion about the orange colour i must admit did cross my mind but i was willing to consider that it was the colour saturation of the image on the listing that was causing it to look particulary orange.
With the benefit of this post auction info i am now glad that i didnt have a punt on it. Some things are to good to be true.
I think this seller has been very devious with this listing and has presented a respray in the hope that if he doesnt mention it some may think (and i was one admittedly) that this was a sleeper and thus ensure a bidding frenzy. That appears to have back fired somewhat given the winning bid was so low.
It has been interesting to comment on and thanks to everyone for your input.

Hi Alex.
The red mustang should be a proper red like the fire engine pictured right next to it, Instead it looks more orange like the superfast orange version, Buy your daughter a lolly pop for saving you all of that money.

Try find a mint or near mint RW Mustang with damage to chrome on 2 hubs, not easy unless you make the damage yourself! Also not easy to find a factory paint mustang without the gray shadow under the grill on top of the bumper because of the way the bodies were hung for painting puts a much thinner coat of paint in that crack than on the rest of the body but not when resprayed at home! It looks like a collection filler repaint being disposed of......
Probley right there Mick and can see it after blowing the picture up. The Pontiac in the other lot looks real so begs the question why not sell that on it's own ?

Tim i am also confused by that SF#22 for the image would suggest that it is in very good condition and worth £80-£100 of any ones cash, any day of the week. Give it a good box and who knows £120-£150??
Very odd indeed.

Floods, no not here, Clacton on sea has close to the lowest UK rainfall, On sunday when I went up to Holt I must have seen a dozen convertibles with their tops down, It has been very mild this year as the wind has been coming from the southwest all winter, It's when it blows from the east we get it bad here.
I have been very tempted to go and look at a yacht that is being sold locally but I should wait until I have done selling my rares off, I recon I will sell two more lots and then give it a rest for a while as I will have sold the majority of them and I need to hang on to some of them for photographing for the book.
