600 stalls in hall 18, free parking, stunning views of the exhibition centre.

10.30 AM - 15.30 PM.

£6 public entry fee.

Everything under the sun and probably some stuff from the dark side of the moon... :P

Ghosty.
Ghosty,

I hope it is better than the last toy fair at the NEC back in the spring.

I drove all the way through the night from Glasgow and got to the show in time to be an early bird, however I was very disappointed as there was very little RW or SF Matchbox on show and whilst i didnt realise it at the time i believe i met T.U.T who had a display of regular wheel matchbox, one of which i showed some interest in namely a metal wheel #37 Karrier Bantam Cocacola lorry with uneven load, which on closer inspection just didn't look right to me as the paint appeared to be quite thick in places and looked particulary shiny, He was looking for £90 for it and when i suggested that i thought it could have been a repaint, he just smirked and started to talk to another vendor. I asked him again to confirm if it was a repaint and he said he wasn't concerned what i thought, as someone else would pay him the cash he was asking for, he then refused to talk to me after that!!!!.

What a prick!!!

T.U.T. has not been seen at any recent toyfairs, I think he's afraid of being mobbed by past customers looking to get their money back.

Re: SCOTMODEL 2013

Post by motorman »

Today is the biggest day of the year in Scotland......SCOTMODEL 2013!. I got the necessary pass from the wife and £30 pocket money ( i had hoped for more but Xmas is just around the corner and my son wants a tablet computer!). 1000 hours i leave the hoose and venture north to Falkirk and the Graeme High School venue arriving about 1045 hours to a full car park and a healthy queue. 1100hours the doors open and after paying the £3 entrance fee i have 3 halls to explore and approx 150-200 tables. I am pleseasently suprised to find a great selection of diecast, white metal, TV and film Memorabalia and lots for the railway enthusiasts. One table that gets my pulse racing is Alan Gunstons from Carlisle, he is regularly up here in scotland and always has a superb collection of Dinky/Corgi and Matchbox. Moving on past the Big players, Corgi are showing off their 2014 collection, I notice a nice MG they are due to release in 2014 (forgot to take a photo of it), Oxford diecast also have a great display of new models some of which are so small 1:148 scale (i need my glasses).
Moving on to a Falkirk regular David Kidd who as usual sets out an impecable display of all things Dinky Corgi and Matchbox. One model that catches my eye is a stunning Dinky Foden flat truck with green flat bed and orange cab in mint condition, unfortunately my budget wont extend to the £345 David is asking.
There are many other tables and one in particular caught my eye with a large batman figure and a rather superb Oil Rig diorama amongst other things.
I managed to get quite a few RW and SF models with my limited budget (see "look what i just got" section of this forum). I wish i had taken some more cash as there was some pretty tasty RW Matchbox to be had if you had a fat wallet!!

I have included some images which i hope will go some way to pursuading some other members to consider venturing up north for next years ScotModel event which will take place on 2nd November 2014 (11am-4pm) Hope to see you there.

Thank's for the 'Scotmodel 2013' toy fair report motorman, looks really good and the lights in there look nice and natural, ideal for spotting those rare colour shades.

I would certainly have spent more than my allowable budget for the event, I can see stuff in your pictures that would have tempted me and once I've picked something up, it usually goes in my carrier bag and then I have to pay for it...

There is no way at this time, I can commit to travel so far for a toy fair, even the NEC is going to cost a fortune in fuel if I take the Rolls, there is a possibility I can borrow my old Astra from my Dad and if this can be made to happen, I will have to arrange to meet up with you for the day, how's that sound... :)

Beaconsfield Toy Fair, Wattleton Road, (in the school on the left, at the start of the road), Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.

Saturday 9th November, 2013.

Held in the main hall with more stalls in the entrance hall and more stalls in the canteen, (which will be open for snacks etc).

Toilets and plenty of free parking.

This event is organised by my old, (well, mature) friend, Peter Levinson and his lovely wife, Diane.

Ghosty might be there with his real Rolls-Royce and his VBD Sticker.
