no Dave that one is orange/yellow...the yellow looks like the one on the far left...its very bright

here is mine...the two end ones are bright yellow and the middle is orange/yellow

no it is light orange -yellow.

I gave up after buying my tenth orange yellow instead of the yellow one

Yes, I know what you mean...I have about 30 Taxi in my collection and not one of them is what I thought I was buying.I finally gave up looking for them.

One thing I forgot to mention, in all the Taxi I have bought the most common is the Stannard code 3 without the x above the wheel well. I have at least 10 of this code.

Yes, I know what you mean...I have about 30 Taxi in my collection and not one of them is what I thought I was buying.I finally gave up looking for them.

Given the poor lighting in the kind of venues where toy fairs are held, the only satisfactory way of determining a model’s true colour is either to take it outside, or (better) to carry a playworn example in the common colour with you for comparison purposes.
This worked for me when looking for pale straw 29a Milk Floats, and I always have a metallic green 75b to hand to help me find that elusive metallic blue example (but no luck yet on that front!). However, buying off the Internet is obviously a little more problematic.

Very nice third Taxi without tow guide Antonin. The first I had seen this rarity was in Hardy's E Bay listings quite some time ago. Because it was a very nice one that he pictured, and a totally uncataloged variation to me, I assumed a second was resting nicely in Hardy's collection. Those were in fact 'The two known' that I was citing in that Post. You now have the Third Antonin!
I had used this obscure variation recently as an example of Hardy's positive contributions to our hobby. That particular Post was branded as a bit off topic, but if we now have a third known example of 'The Hardy Variation' with Antonin's 'Spare' discovery (WOW!), I am happy I used that particular model as an example in that post. I may be wrong in crediting Hardy with the discovery of this variation, and if so I apologize in advance to anyone who may have been eagle-eyed enough to find this one originally. It may have been discussed in an early club newsletter, or perhaps in an online discussion, does anyone have any further history on it?? Nick usually has a footnote added as an obscure variation like this is found and added to his Codes. I see none on this one, but I have enjoyed Nick noting that in other model details because our memories become cloudy over time on these amazing discoveries 50 years after they were issued. kwakers

OOps, I forgot the brilliant yellow Taxi variations. These were found in the very last shipments that our U.S. stores received and were also common in blisterpacks where they were easily spotted. Because they are so brilliant in their yellow, my eyes have never had problems in picking these out even singularly at a show. I believe our perception is in the limited and different capabilities of the eyes of each collector as we have discussed a few times here. Now that we Yanks have outlawed the 100Watt, 75 Watt, and now the 60 Watt incandescent light bulbs of Thomas Edison's design, maybe we may be in the dark on these yellow colors now also.....kwakers
