Having done a little more research here are MY findings..

.Corgi put out a Junior Club racing gift set,one of which Nick has on one of his photo sites. On the front of the box theres a drawing of the 512 with a number 4.I thought this may have been a one off if the other models in the set had a 6 already but it seems not as all the other sets I have spotted have the number 6 car..On the later versions of this set the Technicion people emblem is covering the number on the Ferrari.Very strange, did they not want to show this number on this car?.....Having looked a little farther afield Corgi also made a 1/43? Scale Ferrari 250 LM that has the exact same number 4......So my theory is the bigger Ferraris number was used on the smaller car as the number as you can see is fractionaly bigger.....I will leave it up to someone else to find the location of the number 8s home car.....

4 looks like a waterslide decal not a paper sticker in the photos however it is Corgi´s typeface so original. They did make changes to giftset cars so that kids wouldnt be disappointed getting an identical example to those individual cars they already had........lots of special colours on Mercedes 280SL and Capri in particular
