Thanks for your reply, Alex. Upon closer inspection of the baseplate photo, I now notice that the rivets look slightly smaller than the holes.. which, as you say, shouldn’t be the case.
I’ve made this new image focusing only on the rivets.. have brightened it, and increased the contrast to further reveal the detail. Left half is the front rivet, right half is the rear one:
Lending credence to the ‘re-paint’ theory is also the convenient absence of the “3” tampo, which would otherwise have to be skilfully masked out when the red coat was applied. So I concur, some justified concerns re. this model. Does anyone else have a (presumably genuine) dark orange or red 27b they can put up (baseplate), so we can have a ‘benchmark’ for comparision? Also, please let us know if it has the “3” tampo.
