Just thought I would post here..perhaps someone has been through something similar..
On Sunday I won an action on Ebay UK, it was for a small lot of 8 Lesney's.
In the listing the seller stated, "P+P £4 for UK, more for Europe" ( I am in France )
As Just caught the auction in it's last few minutes and there were no bids, I quickly threw
in a bid. I won the auction, being the sole bidder for £1.50
Tuesday Morning, I had yet to hear anything from the seller, so I sent a message, mentioning
that I was in France and asking for the total, with shipping charges to here.
No reply from the seller...
Tuesday Afternoon, I received a message from Ebay stating a dispute for non payment of (this) item
has been opened. (rather hasty)
I sent another message to the seller, mentioning that I had received a dispute notification from Ebay
I mentioned to him that I always pay quite promptly and that I have 100 percent positive feedback,
that reflects this, adding that I would be more than happy to pay, if he would kindly send me an invoice
with the amount due with shipping to here.
I am hoping there was some sort of mistake on the sellers part...but my intuition is smelling something fishy.
Perhaps I will hear "something" from the seller... My question though is what if I don't ? Should I pay the auction "as is" with the UK shipping amount listed? or do I just wait things out? I certainly don't want a negative mark from Ebay.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Ebay question
These days, if any problems arise, I contact Ebay ASAP. the online chat option is usually good enough. Just point out the obvious. That you still waiting for an invoice to Europe, etc... and that the seller has opened the case without just cause. Usually works for me
Re: Ebay question
I agree, very good advice. You also get a copy of the chat transcript, which can be useful.shockwavetrading wrote:These days, if any problems arise, I contact Ebay ASAP. the online chat option is usually good enough. Re: Ebay question
I would pay for the item with the UK postage price. Then the burden is placed on the seller to ship the item or you can open a case on him. If they don't understand what they are doing or are neglect in sending an invoice, he never should have opened an unpaid item case. Pay for the item and put the burden of "performance" back on the seller.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
Re: Ebay question
I agree with Joe. At least that shows the seller that you really want the item.......any extra postage costs can be dealt with seperately.
The seller appears on this occassion to have been very premature in raising a dispute. I would suggest inexperiance on his or her part. Pay it now and there is no reason why your feedback score should be negatively affected.

Re: Ebay question
I have just received an 'opening of an unpaid item dispute' while waiting for a second auction of the Seller's to end. Mine was 3 days, not 2 like yours. I simply paid immediately, the unpaid was immediately dropped by E Bay, but I told the Seller he will not be getting my normal 5 star Positive Feedback. No response from him overnight, this happened just yesterday! With a Feedback of 51, and no warning of 3 day pay expected in his listing, and no communication as in your case, the nervous Sellers best sharpen up a bit or they will drive us nuts! A 100% Feedback of 600+ with rave reviews means nothing to some Sellers I guess. kwakers
Re: Ebay question
Many thanks for the advices, they were very much appreciated.
Today I received an invoice from the seller ( just an invoice, no word, message, explanation, or acknowledgement of me having written to him)
The amount of the invoice included the amount of the bid, plus 4£ postage. ( which the was the amount he quoted to ship within the UK) I cannot figure why in his listing he would say "to Europe more" if in fact he was going to charge the same amount. . Anyways, I promptly paid and the dispute was removed just as quickly. Now we shall see if the Lesney's actually arrive....
This seller has been with Ebay since 2003 and has over 1000 transactions, so I would think. that they are certainly not new to the game. So rather puzzling the lack of communication and hasty actions on his part.
I have had a lot of fine transactions on Ebay, with fine genuine folks, but it's ones like these that just leave ya scratching your head, going hmmm.
Good luck with things Kwakers!

I would gove the lowest possible ratings and maybe go as far as to leave netrual feedback.

Re: Ebay question
Just to update...
Tonight I received a message from the seller.
He was very apologetic and stated that the pay dispute was put into place by an "automatic response", that he thought he had turned off. So apparently he was unaware of things. He also said ,he would be posting the item tomorrow.
I replied by thanking him, for updating me on the situation and mentioned that if there were any additional postage charge, to let me know so, that I could reimburse him.
So hopefully everything works out.
Once again, many thanks for the replies, I was rather rattled by this situation.

Re: Ebay question
I did get a response from my Seller thanking me for my payment yesterday zBret. He wants us to 'Move On from our misunderstanding'. I wrote him a rather lengthy (No, not kwakers LOL) reply simply stating we did not have any misunderstanding. His listing lacked any expected payment time, so I was very critical of him for that. He stated that there are now many problems with non-payers, to which I answered that a quick check of a Buyers Feedback will separate serious Bidders from non paying slugs. His non-payer problem is in his head after only 3 days! The 'New instant E Bay' is forcing Sellers into this panic.
In your case zBret, the Seller really thought his automatic non payer had been turned off, so I would log Positive Feedback just for his apology. He will probably make sure that it is off for sure now! E Bay does them automatically, and a seller just follows their recommendations, or is sometimes unaware of them until we let them know a non-payer alert was issued by E Bay on their behalf.
My Seller on the other hand was aware of my non-payer, saw nothing wrong with just a three day non-payer with NO WARNING in his listing, and also had no communication with me. His message to me said 'I usually pay for my purchases immediately'. Goody for him....LOL I will log positive feedback about his completing the transaction, but that's it. I will give him no stars at all, and I am avoiding his other sales. My advice to him was to state his Payment policy in his listings to avoid laid back Buyers like me. More of this 'instant' crap will be pushed by E Bay, only if we buyers allow it ..........kwakers
After 13 years on E Bay, I was not rattled at all zBret, but I made sure HE was in my scathing message back to him. He better change his listings to avoid laid back hobbyists like me, otherwise he will be messaging upset Buyers about 'misunderstandings' all the time........kwakers
