corgi bond aston, first good find of the year
lone star firenza second good find of the year
Well feb starting off well, got this for a £1 with a mixed lot,i have been after a cheap one for years ,it must be the hunting/finding part i like ,its missing its bonnet/hood but if i get around to it spares are available,it must have taken me a split second after seeing it to know it was going home with me,when you get that feeling you know its a keeper.

That's a nice find and quite a valuable model even without the bonnet.

I have been looking for an acceptably priced one of these for years as I had a real one in the 80's along with a Vauxhall magnum both in this shade of blue , why do these command such a premium as they do come up on fleebay quite often always going for high prices against other lone stars I find the mustang less common . well done

I did a check on this firenza and my other finds and the price of these really surprised me,even basket cases are worth keeping.johnboy wrote:That's a nice find and quite a valuable model even without the bonnet.
The aston is a short special run for woolworths, vectis sold one for £40 a few years back ,and the last one on ebay then no longer avaliable was listed for 330 dollars so not really sure on the aston but i.m still looking for another lol.

Reg, I think it is valued so highly because it is the only model made of this particular vehicle so demand is high while the supply is low, fixer wrote:I have been looking for an acceptably priced one of these for years as I had a real one in the 80's along with a Vauxhall magnum both in this shade of blue , why do these command such a premium as they do come up on fleebay quite often always going for high prices against other lone stars I find the mustang less common . well done
Dave, Nice find, I'm not sure if I have seen the blue tinted windows before.

I would say they must have been made in less numbers, the rest of the range i see quite often in mixed lots but like i said this is my first in my hand, there is a high demand for the model like the playart mark three cortina from car buffs so both these together hence the pricefixer wrote:I have been looking for an acceptably priced one of these for years as I had a real one in the 80's along with a Vauxhall magnum both in this shade of blue , why do these command such a premium as they do come up on fleebay quite often always going for high prices against other lone stars I find the mustang less common . well done
I had a sky blue p reg viva van,ex south staffs social services, bought it from an auction of council vehicles(there was two to pick from the same)it still had the sign writing for social services on it and i never did get round to painting it out,got some right looks pulling up outside peoples houses,i ve come for your kids!!
Funny thing the back was caged from the cab ,think it was ex meals on meals, got a right stare from a real south staffs social services team, they had gone to dark blue maestros, probably wanted the better looking viva back.In the end sold it to my mates granddad who was a farmer,he painted the livery out the day he got it and he really loved the van,ran it till he died, not sure what happened to it then. The van was the earlier type viva,HA? the car and firenza HB?

i thought it was all xr3s in essex ,my very first car was a simca 1000,just sat on the driveway and used it in the evening for socialising,my first car on the road was an austin 1300 automatic, which didn,t have a working reverse grear, happy days.fixer wrote:The van was the earlier type viva,HA? the car and firenza HB?
