Hi Charlie

What makes the model front left in the first photo a pre pro?

Hi David,

I had to look for that one again. My notes states slight differences: interior & base plastic parts with lighter colors on base.
There are some so called prepros that are very close to the final product. I prefer the prepros without the designation Number and incomplete year such as 19__.

Charlie

PS: I usually keep the prepros/color trials etc separated because some do have minor differences from the regular issues.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I think I have the same model here - without the gear 'level' underneath, and strangely also missing the front grill.

Thanks, David

Just started collecting these.
The mis-matched 2nd axle is annoying and no reason for it being so.
It is said above that cab can be dark or light blue but isn't there a metallic blue version as well?

Hi AJR,
I am not sure if there is a metallic blue version but I know there is a gray one. Typically the prepros tend to be in light blue although I would not be surprised that they may be found in other colors.

Yellow is a popular prepro colour for this model,(mine are well loved) I think Dave has one of these as well. I have not seen a grey or metallic blue, something else to keep an eye out for.

If we ever retitle this whole forum to :-Vintage Brirish Diecasts You Don't Own, Jason would never have anything to post or comment on...
