Models in Squid's collection

Post by Squid »

I have gone too long without establishing my little section in the Dick Kwak Gallery. To remedy that, I took a few pictures earlier today. My intent is to start with models that haven't been seen in the "Squid's latest finds" thread and then add new photos grouping models according to series and era.

First up are a couple of Yesteryears, beginning with a Y7-2 Mercer Raceabout. Being yellow, it's a later production model.

I don't know if Lesney intended the spotlight to be rotatable, but it's a neat feature of this model!

Up next is a Y13-2 1911 Daimler. It's also a late production model, as evidenced by the open spare tire well.

This model is notorious for losing its radiator insert. A previous owner decided to remedy that with a bit of glue. The number of other Y13-2s I've seen that haven't lost their radiator insert can be counted on one hand.

This is also, as of this post, the only Lesney I own that has its box. Sadly, the box fared much worse than the model.

I will be adding more photos next weekend. Thanks for viewing!

Obviously, that didn't happen. Nevertheless, here are a couple of recent acquisitions. I wrote a blog post about them, with more pictures.

It is a pitty when boxes do suffer with various levels of damage but at least they do their job quite well and protect the model inside.

What they should have done is use an outer box to protect the inner picture box. Hang on a minute, then they would have to use an outer, outer box to protect the first outer box protecting the inner box. Hang on a min...you can guess where this is leading too!!
