odd 39a zodiac var.
odd 39a zodiac var.
I have what seems to be a 39a code 1 or 2 but it has domed/crimped axles... not sure if this is a legit variation.. anyone come across similar examples?

Base rivet does look a bit odd and under the rear axle, maybe someone painted the base.

I agree with Jason - it looks like this one started with a green base. Sorry!
Re: odd 39a zodiac var.
thanks for the sharp eye(s).. I also found some missed spots behind wheels on close inspection... lesson learned .. break out the loupe b4 posting silly question... never trust the reading glasses .. thx
Re: odd 39a zodiac var.
As Jason said, the rivet is also strange - they’re normally hardly pressed on the Zodiac and the base is almost always a bit loose. Someone has gone to quite a lot of effort here: I’d guess this is a rivet head from another model glued to the original rivet post. If you bought it on eBay you should be able to get your money back.

Not silly at all. Sometimes it's good to get a second, and even third, pair of eyes for inspections. As Glenn said, if you paid a premium price on eBay, you shouldn't have much trouble getting your money back.elmrjfud wrote:Silly question...

Before even reading the posted comments I saw the picture and thought...that rivet looks far too big!!

Don't be too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes, and you can be certain that there isn't a collector on this Forum who hasn't been caught out at some time.
All I would like to add is that a more practised eye might have been alerted to a potential problem by the colour of the interior, the shade of tan not being quite right (although that, of course, might be simply due to the colour balance of the photographs, my laptop screen, or my eyesight).
Line and learn. The man who never made a mistake never made anything!
