The oval window VW looks way too good to mess with! Who made it?

In that case, it absolutely deserves better. Only just before I started typing this post did I notice it has semaphores cast in...very cool!Diecastmolester wrote:It's a not very good repaint.

Re: Today's Haul
The semaphores prevailed in Germany until 1957, when they were replaced by indicators. By then, the Beetle had the rectangular rear window.
The reverse logic is, that all oval window Beetles had semaphores.
It looks like the example I have is a late one what with its spun wheels.

The Beetles that were sent Stateside had indicators after 1955 (the "bullet" type also used on Buses and Karmann-Ghias). Some European countries got Beetles with semaphores until 1959.Diecastmolester wrote:The reverse logic is, that all oval window Beetles had semaphores.

Re: Today's Haul
I had a '55 VW with canvas sunroof and semaphores. They still worked great. I did the proverbial body off pan full restoration on her in the early 70's. Kept it for a few years and got a pretty penny for the car when I sold it. Wish I still had it today.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
