Fixing a bent windshield pillar

Post by Squid »

My 41C has a bent windshield pillar (and the left side of the roof is lower). Is this fuxabke, and if so, will it require disassembly of the model?

Sod's Law dictates that mazak will bend only once.
Any attempt at straightening 99.9% of the time will result in a breakage.
A heavy clout or being trodden on will bend the model but delicate manipulation will result in destruction.
In this case you may be lucky and be able to straighten the pillar without dismantling using a block of wood but the roof would probably prevent that.
I would snip or cut out the bent pillar and prise the roof level, flatten the removed pillar and superglue back in.

Doing that stands a good chance of fogging the window insert (and possibly any shine on the paint) in the area where the super glue is used.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Now I'm unsure what to do with this model...use it to practice rivet drilling and metal work or pass it along to someone else. Thanks for the advice and help!
